Certified Wagyu Beef: Experience authentic, juicy and tender, South African Wagyu Beef

Certified Wagyu Beef: Experience authentic, juicy and tender, South African Wagyu Beef

Please take note:

  • As mentioned in the module 1 course, we have finalized our agreements with the government. As producer you will receive a complete audit the first year after the contract is signed and thereafter a “paper” audit for the next two years, i.e., electronically to make sure the animals are on the database and the animal movements are done.
  • The audit fees for the entire value chain are substantially less than before. In the past, all major retailers for example had to be audited twice a year. The new audit protocol allows the retail distribution centres to be audited twice per year and only 10% of the stores. The per km cost is divided by all trademarks.
  • All CWB value chain customers may use the claim “Experience genuine, juicy and tender, South African Wagyu Beef”.
  • CPG on farm audits will begin on the 1st of August. Audits have taken longer than expected because of the tough negotiations with the government to make the audit fees cheaper.
  • We are currently putting the CWB agreement on an electronic form that you can sign electronically annually.
  • The CWB committee also agreed with SAMIC that the marbling score on the CWB stickers, which must be pasted on the product packets and boxes, will read as follows:
    • MS 1 & 2 (Only minced meat i.e., biltong, sausage, hamburger patties)
    • MS 3 (For local use only)
    • MS 4 & 5, MS 6 & 7, MS 8 & 9, MS 9+ (Local use as well as exports)
    • The stickers as well as brand specification are available at the CWB office
  • The new CWB audit manual is available on the website (Afrikaans and English)
